HQ RIO’s bi-monthly Virtual In-Residence Orientation (vIRO) replaces Detachment newcomer briefings to streamline onboarding for Individual Reservists (IRs). The next session will be held 10–12 September, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. MT daily, offering a three-day orientation designed to equip IRs and their support teams with essential knowledge and resources.

What’s Covered

Over the course of three days, attendees will receive in-depth guidance on navigating the IR program, including:

  • HQ RIO structure, roles, and responsibilities
  • Pay, travel, orders, and UTAPS
  • Points, participation, and readiness
  • Medical, deployments, and Yellow Ribbon
  • Career development, mentorship, and training resources
  • GI Bill, Tuition Assistance, DD 214, and more

Sessions are led by HQ RIO experts, with opportunities to hear directly from leadership and connect with peers across the IR community.

Who Should Attend

HQ RIO strongly encourages all IRs, regardless of experience level, to attend. Active-duty supervisors, Unit Reserve Coordinators, and Reserve Advisors are also welcome. This is a valuable opportunity to build awareness, foster collaboration, and stay informed on key program updates.

Logistics

  • Telework IDTs (paid or points-only) are authorized for participation.
  • No registration required—just log in and join.
  • Full attendance across all three days is recommended to ensure complete onboarding.
