RIO Buzz                                                                                                     Vol. 28

Happy summer!  We’ve been busy here at RIO making it easier for you to serve, but let’s take a short break, because it’s time for another Buzz …

BE SURE TO ATTEND THE IR ALL CALL ON MONDAY
On Monday, 14 June at 1200 EDT/1000 MDT, the RIO Command Chief, Director of Operations and I will hold an IR All Call.  I will address several important topics as well as answer questions submitted by you.
To attend the All Call, use THIS LINK

This is a CVR Live Event and is open to any attendee with the link, even if you do not have an account.  The same link can be used to access a recording of the All Call after the fact.  CVR sunsets on 15 Jun, so we will move the recorded event to YouTube and post it on our HQ RIO website.

SCHEDULED DOWNTIME FOR MilPDS COULD AFFECT MANY SYSTEMS
MilPDS is scheduled to transfer to a new production platform on Friday, 18 June, starting at 0800 CDT through Thursday, 24 June, at 1600 CDT.  This is an extended period to support deployment of the new MilPDS platform that supports AFIPPS.  MilPDS is a system that “talks” to a number of websites/systems IRs use often such as AROWS-R, myPers, AFFMS, vMPF, and PRDA.  If you need to perform any actions in these programs, you need to do it prior to 18 June.

NEW ORDERS REQUEST SYSTEM COMING SOON
We are constantly striving to make it easier for IRs to serve.  One of the ways we’ve done that is to create a myPers-based orders request system.  The system has been used by IRs assigned to Detachments 2 and 3 since November and now it’s time to launch it RIO-wide.

On 25 June we will conduct virtual training to take you step-by-step through the new system, and the myPers based orders process will be available to all IRs beginning 28 June.  The new system is a vast improvement from using AROWS-R.  For instance, if you require a sanctuary waiver, AT Special Request Form, or Car Rental Worksheet, they are created automatically as you input your request.  In addition, myPers is accessible without a CAC and you can even access it on your smartphone!

You will still use AROWS-R to track, print, and certify (short tour only) orders, but it makes it much easier for you to request orders using the new myPers system.  More information about this and the training will hit your inbox soon.

NEW FITNESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON THE WAY
The Air Force is giving myPers and the virtual Personnel Center (vPC) a technical refresh by migrating to the CRM platform, myFSS.  The myFitness platform will go live and be available to the Total Force through the new myFSS platform over the next 90 days, with the initial set of capabilities scheduled for release 1 July 2021.

While myFitness is intended to replace AFFMS II, AFFMS II will continue to remain available as a backup capability, if needed.  The launch of myFitness provides users with the enhanced ability to track, monitor and report the individual and collective physical fitness level among Air Force personnel and will serve as a management tool for Air Force commanders.

Continued messaging will be released over the next few weeks which will provide further details on the myFitness rollout dates and adoption support artifacts such as capability overviews and training aids.

DENTAL DOCUMENTAION SYSTEM EXPERIENCING ISSUES
The system used to update your dental status for IMR has had frequent global intermittent problems which has prevented our technicians from updating your dental exams.  The help desk is aware and currently working the issue.  Your medical team will continue to check back frequently and try to complete as many dental updates as the system allows.  For questions please contact our HQ RIO/IRM office via myPers HERE.

AIR FORCE AID SOCIETY SUPPORT NOW AVAILABLE TO RESERVISTS
The Air Force Aid Society is now providing emergency assistance to all Airmen and Guardians, regardless of duty status. Before the change in policy took effect on May 6, only Reservists or Guardsmen on an active-duty status were eligible for AFAS emergency assistance.  Read more about this amazing resource HERE.

That’s the buzz for now.  Thanks for ALL you do!

v/r,
Col Amy Boehle, HQ RIO Commander
