Welcome to July and Happy Independence Day!  I know it has been a long wait for some of you, but the CY21 Reserve Majors’ board results should be released in the next two weeks.  In the meantime, here’s the latest Buzz …

SCHEDULED MilPDS DOWNTIME COULD IMPACT MANY SYSTEMS
The MilPDS downtime is now scheduled for Friday, 16 July, starting at 0800 CDT through Thursday, 22 July, at 1600 CDT.  This is an extended period to support deployment of the new MilPDS platform that supports AFIPPS.  MilPDS is a system that “talks” to a number of websites/systems IRs use such as AROWS-R, myPers, AFFMS, vMPF, and PRDA.  If you need to perform any actions in these programs, do it prior to 16 July.

NEW ORDERS REQUEST SYSTEM NOW IN USE FOR ALL IRs
We constantly strive to make it easier for IRs to serve, so we created a myPers-based orders request system.  The system is currently being used by IRs assigned to Detachments 2 and 3 and now it’s time to launch RIO-wide. 

Beginning 28 June all orders requests (AT, TDY, IDT Travel, RPA, MPA, etc.) must be submitted via this new myPers system.  If you had orders requested or pending in AROWS-R prior to 28 June, you don’t need to take any action.  They will continue to be worked.
The new system is a vast improvement from using AROWS-R.  For instance, if you require a sanctuary waiver, AT Special Request Form, or Car Rental Worksheet, they are created automatically as you input your request.  In addition, myPers is accessible without a CAC and you can even access it on your smartphone!

You will still use AROWS-R to track, print, and certify (short tour only) orders, but it makes it much easier for you to request orders using the new myPers system.

NEW MYPERS SURVEY FOR HQ RIO CUSTOMERS
We value and use your feedback, so we launched a new 10-question survey in myPers that gives you the opportunity to provide feedback on the service you receive.  This survey is available once your incident closes and your feedback will be used to analyze areas for improvement and make it easier for you to serve.  Please take the time to complete the survey when received.

NEW JOB POSTINGS TAKE A TEST RUN ON TALENT MARKETPLACE
Have you checked out the new Talent Marketplace on MyVector?  This is the future of job postings for the Air Force.  Right now it’s being tested with 3F0 enlisted AGR billets, two of which are open positions in our very own RIO Detachments!  Using Chrome, log into the Air Force portal and go to MyVector.  At the top you’ll see a link to Talent Marketplace.  Check it out and see what you think, and if you’re a 3F0 looking for a great AGR position, apply!
