RIO Buzz Vol 40
Welcome to the new fiscal year. We started with a great win for our IMAs who go on MPA orders. A new policy means their DTS profiles will be moved to the MPA-supported unit while serving on those orders, making TDYs much easier. Read more about that HERE. Now, the Buzz …
CHECK YOUR CAC
From November 2019 to March 2020, CACs were issued with certificate expiration dates that do not match the printed expiration date. This issue originated with DoD PKI certificate issuance infrastructure operated by DISA. There are more than 200k members affected by this. They have been receiving emails in their .mil accounts, but it’s possible you’re affected and don’t know.
If you’re unsure if you’re affected, log into the DEERS/RAPIDS appointment website (ID Card Office Online (osd.mil), find the number for your nearest CAC issuance office, and give them a call. If you need a new CAC, make an appointment online (if possible) and get your new CAC by 23 November to avoid a loss in digital connectivity to military websites and systems.
Because of the number of members affected, there is expected to be a surge of people at these locations, so don’t wait until the last minute.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR RENTAL CAR UPGRADES
Who doesn’t love a free upgrade, right? That being said, if you’re on orders and request a rental car, the JTR says you will be reimbursed for a compact-size car (unless you provide prior justification for a larger size). If you show up and the rental car company (for whatever reason) needs to put you in a larger vehicle for the same cost, be SURE that your receipt still shows you paying for a “compact car.” If only the size you were upgraded to shows on the receipt, our travel technicians have no way of knowing that the dollar amount was for the compact car, and your voucher could be kicked back.
ARE YOU COMING UP ON YOUR ETS?
Did you know you need to pay close attention to your ETS (Expiration Term of Service)? Especially if you are coming direct from RegAF (Palace Chase or Palace Front) and did not immediately reenlist with your recruiter. Why is this important? Your ETS can come up on you fast. You MUST act prior to your ETS date or you may find yourself being ETS discharged from the Air Force. For more information on reenlisting, click HERE. If you have questions, contact the HQ RIO Career Assistance Advisor MSgt Ronald Brown at 720-847-3187 or email him at ARPC.HQRIO.CareerAssistance@us.af.mil.
