Col Amy M. Pekala is the Commander of Headquarters Readiness and Integration Organization Detachment 4, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. She is responsible for ensuring the readiness, accountability, and personnel support of more than 1,600 Individual Reservists as they integrate with active duty Air Force personnel worldwide.
Col Pekala entered the Air Force in 1998 as a graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She served on active duty for 9 years before transitioning to the Air Force Reserve where she has experience as an air reserve technician, individual mobilization augmentee, and a traditional reservist. Col Pekala has an extensive background in the force support career field and has performed in a variety of operational and staff assignments at the unit, MAJCOM, and Defense Agency levels. She has also deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Prior to assuming her current position, Col Pekala was Deputy Commander, 434th Mission Support Group, Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind. where she was responsible for supporting the mission of the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command through a variety of functions including infrastructure, logistics, personnel, services, communications, contracting, security and aerial port operations.
