Colonel Karen M. Coltrin is the Commander, Detachment 7, Individual Reservist Readiness and Integration Organization, Air Force Reserve Command, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. In this capacity, she is responsible for the war time readiness and seamless integration of over 1,500 Individual Reservists assigned to various defense organizations headquartered in the National Capital Region.
Prior to this positon, Colonel Coltrin served as the Reserve Advisor to the Director, Headquarters Defense Human Resources Activity, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, Arlington, Va. In this capacity, she was the primary advisor in implementing policy, guidance, & resources pertaining to Air Force Reserve forces within the Activity’s mission areas.
Colonel Coltrin was commissioned in 1999 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She spent eleven years in the regular Air Force before transitioning to the Air Force Reserve in 2010. A career Force Support Officer, she has served in various capacities to include Squadron Section Commander, Military Personnel Flight Commander, Operations Officer and Squadron Commander. She has also held numerous staff positions at the Wing, Center and Headquarters levels. In the Air Force Reserve, she has served in a variety of statuses to include traditional reservist, individual mobilization augmentee and active guard/reserve. Additionally, she has deployed
three times in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom.
