HQ RIO has resumed processing of lodging reimbursement while continuing to examine the authorities and policies on this topic in partnership with Air Force, Reserve, and DoW agencies, including AFRC, AF/RE, SAF/GCA, DoW OGC, OSW(P&R).
Out of an abundance of caution to protect Airmen from financial risk, HQ RIO suspended the processing of vouchers for Inactive Duty Training (IDT) lodging reimbursement citing a Department of War Office of General Counsel (DoW OGC) legal opinion. DoW OGC clarified on 14 August 2026 that the General Counsel did not issue a formal legal opinion.
