RIO Buzz                                                                                           Vol. 3

The RIO Buzz is a bi-weekly message from me with useful information that I hope will make it easy for you to serve.

ARE YOU MISSING ANY POINTS?
It’s always a good idea to periodically check your PCARS to ensure your points get updated. We were notified that some of our IRs who received pay for their participation didn’t have their points updated automatically. We let ARPC know and they are aggressively working a solution, but in the interim, if you find your points are not updated 30 – 45 days after being paid, submit a myPers ticket to ARPC with a copy of your LES and a colored copy/screenshot of your UTAPS calendar with those days showing paid. You can check your points via the vMPF (go into myPers and select ACCESS SECURE APPS). Choose SELF-SERVICE ACTIONS>PERSONAL ACTIONS>PCARS.

2020 FRONT RANGE COMBINED TRAINING ASSEMBLY IS COMING UP!
A great event for reservists will be held in Colorado Springs April 30 and May 1. The Front Range Combined Training Assembly is an education, training, and networking event. Topics will include a senior leader panel, AFRC/HQ RIO/RIO Detachment 3 hot topics, ARPC and United States Space Force (USSF) updates, a tour of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) operations floors, as well as briefings and training on a number of issues that are reserve hot topics. Click here for more information. Any Reservist can attend either in person or via teleconference.

HQ RIO HAS ITS FIRST COMMAND CHIEF
I am honored to announce that for the first time HQ RIO has its own command chief. As of this week, Chief Master Sgt. Stacy Wilfong assumed her new duties and position. This is a huge win for HQ RIO and the Individual Reservists we serve. She will positively influence the lives of our IRs and I’m excited to move forward with such an incredible leader. Click here to read all about it!

HAVE YOU INSTALLED DESKTOP ANYWHERE ON YOUR PERSONAL COMPUTER YET?
We have multiple websites and systems to use as IRs, and some are tough to get to unless you’re sitting at your military workspace. Desktop Anywhere is a new virtual desktop program that is a TOTAL game changer. It allows users to access their .mil profiles from home and mimic the NIPR network. It makes it so much easier to access DTS, UTAPS, AROWS-R, etc. It takes a little time to set up, but once you’re in you’ll find it much easier to access these systems. To set it up, CAC into the Air Force Portal and search DESKTOP ANYWHERE. Follow the instructions there, and don’t hesitate to call the help number provided if you run into problems. If you need a CAC reader, your Detachment can get you one.

That’s the buzz for now. Thanks for ALL you do!

v/r,
Col Amy Boehle, HQ RIO Commander
