RIO Buzz                                                                                               Vol. 37

The 31 May deadline for submitting your AT orders request is coming fast.  If you haven’t already, get that in ASAP, as well as this year’s IDTs into UTAPs. A reminder memorandum was sent recently.  If you didn’t see it, please click HERE to read it now. Now for the Buzz …

NEED TRAINING OR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES?
Funding is available for training and professional development opportunities that have been deferred over the past couple of years.  If you have availability and are aware seats also being available in training/developmental courses you need for the remainder of FY22, please contact your career field manager and Detachment to try to secure a seat and the funding.

MEMO ASSISTS WITH ACCESS TO MTFs FOR PROFILES
Many IMAs run into roadblocks when making appointments at MTFs.  This MEMO from the Defense Health Agency can provide assistance for you if this happens.  Not only are you allowed access to ANY Military Treatment Facility for readiness items if you don’t live near your base of assignment, the same applies for profile appointments.  If you need a fitness profile, bookmark this memo in case you need it.

MANY COMMERCIAL TRAVEL OFFICES HAVE CHANGED RECENTLY
If you need to make airline, car rental, or lodging reservations for an upcoming set of orders, double check this LIST for the correct company and phone number.  Many base CTOs changed recently with new contractors taking over.

A BIG WIN FOR IMA READINESS – HIV TESTS NOW AVAILABLE FROM CIVILIAN DOCTORS
Every two years, Reservists are required to get an HIV test to remain medically ready (GREEN). Until recently, the HIV tests had to be completed at an MTF, which was difficult for those who don’t live near a military base.
Great news!  HIV Lab draws is now live in RHRP for those members who meet the criteria of being outside of a 50 mile range of an MTF. If you need to take advantage of this program, you will need to submit a Reserve Health Readiness Program (RHRP) request in myPers requesting to be scheduled for an HIV lab draw (RIO Medical will contact you if any additional information is needed for the request via myPers).
RIO Medical will place the order for the member in LHI. LHI will then reach out to accomplish the scheduling portion based on the member’s availability.  Once the lab draw is complete, it will be sent to a DoD facility for testing; the results will then be uploaded into ASIMS.

THE 1095 RULE IS NOW THE 1825 RULE
The FY2022 NDAA has an important change for those who work long term RPA or MPA.  The full guidance can be found HERE.
Reservists used to be limited to being on RPA/MPA for “1095 days in the previous 1460 days.”  Now Section 115(b)(2)(B) of title 10, United States Code reads ‘‘1825 days in the previous 2190 days.’’  As a reminder, other rules such as sanctuary waivers are still in effect.

This is great news for those who have spent extended time on orders over the past few years.
