It’s the last Buzz of the year.  On behalf of the entire HQ RIO HQ and detachment team, I want to wish you a safe and happy holiday season!  Now, the Buzz …

MEDICAL AND TRAVEL HAVE MOVED TO MYFSS

IR travel and medical submissions went live on myFSS 12 Dec 2022.  We can expect pay and orders to move to myFSS sometime in February or March.  For now, it’s crucial that you ensure you can log in to myFSS successfully so you’re ready when the transition hits.
If you haven’t yet, you need to login to myFSS through the Air Force Portal under Career & Training (or using this LINK) using Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. Select the Common Access Card (CAC) Login icon to begin the login process. The platform will automatically create your account upon the first login, please note: it may take up to 24 hrs to build your profile. If you see your name displayed on the landing page upon login, your account/profile is active.

NEW TO THE IMA PROGRAM?   MAKE SURE YOU GET PAID!

As a new IMA, or if you've never done so, you need to establish a pay file!  Pay will not process without a complete package.  Access this LINK, complete required documentation, and submit to the Reserve Pay Office with a myPers ticket.

DAF365 CAN NOW BE ACCESSED FROM PERSONAL COMPUTERS

This is great news for our IRs.  Air Force customers now have the ability to access DAF365 (Unclassified Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive) using a web browser from a non-government/personal computer with CAC authentication.

WHAT TO DO:
To access DAF365 services from a non-government/personal computer, follow the below steps:
1.           Ensure the workstation has a CAC reader (either built-in or external).
2.           Insert your CAC into the reader.
3.           Open a web browser, preferably Chrome or Edge.
4.           Paste the DAF365 service portal link into the browser: https://portal.apps.mil
5.           Select the authentication certificate and enter your PIN (if prompted).
6.           When prompted, sign in using your Email for Career address (e.g., john.doe.99@us.af.mil.

LIMITATIONS:
1.           Users can only download attachments from Outlook. (This is new and a great help!)
2.           Files generated in DAF365 can only be saved to OneDrive, SharePoint, or Teams.
3.           Files from the local workstation can be uploaded into OneDrive, SharePoint, or Teams, or attached to Outlook emails.

A couple of other items to note.  While Outlook will log out automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity, if ONLY Teams is open, it will remain logged in all day.  Also, if you have trouble logging in, open a private/incognito browser.  That seems to help.

FOR TRAVEL VOUCHERS, YOU NEED TO ENTER ACTUAL STARTING ADDRESS--“HOR” NOT ENOUGH

Discerning entitlements with the itinerary only identifying HOR is not necessarily intuitive.  An assumption that the "Present Street Address" identified on AF FORM 938 orders means HOR is not always accurate.  Members will often begin orders in locations other than HOR and sometimes at locations other than the address on the orders.  Therefore, simply stating HOR is not sufficient to identify the location for which travel reimbursement is being claimed.  Providing the city and state (and preferable zip code) clearly defines the travel entitlements/reimbursement being claimed.

As an example, please refer to the "Filing an RTS Travel Reimbursement" guide on the HQ RIO website.  The example voucher shows city, state, and zip code.

In addition, refer to the "Top Reasons for Voucher Returns." Item 1.b. explains that when traveling to/from HOR, ensure that it's written as "city, state."

THE IR STRATEGY OFFICE RECEIVES PILOT APPROVAL

The IMA Strategic Review has been underway for more than a year.  The team is working diligently to find ways of improving the lives of IRs (IMA/PIRR).  One of its efforts, the establishment of an IR Strategy Office, has now received its pilot program approval.  Click HERE to read more.

Again, thank you for all you have done for the Air Force Reserve in 2022.  I hope you enjoy the holiday season, and we look forward to supporting you in 2023.

v/r,

Col Edward “Chad” Segura
