The RIO Buzz Vol 66
ANOTHER reminder that orders for annual tour for this FY MUST be requested in myFSS no later than 31 May. You should also ensure all your days are scheduled in UTAPS for this FY. Now, the Buzz:
FLU VACCINE – JUST OVER TWO WEEKS UNTIL MEMBERS ARE SENT TO THE IRR FOR NON-COMPLIANCE
One of the things I love about leadership is understanding that our environments are dynamic and “givens” often change. I made decisions on readiness based on CDC guidance that the flu vaccine would not be available in the spring. However, flu shots are still available, so members still have the ability to meet readiness requirements. So instead of non-vol to the IRR, members that do not have their flu shot will be placed on No Points/No Pay (NP/NP) until they are “Green.” If you need orders to complete this requirement, please coordinate with your Det.
Please ensure your flu shot is updated in your myIMR. While the system may show you green, ensure the date is correct. (The system “flips” back to green each year; however, this year we are tracking the dates and will hold members accountable.) If you’re not, contact your detachment ASAP to get your record updated. I will reiterate, those who did not fulfill this mandatory readiness requirement will be placed on NP/NP.
NEW RESERVE LEADERSHIP FACT SHEET NOW AVAILABLE
RA versus MA? Functional Manager versus Career Field Manager? RIO Commander, Det Commander ... and now an IMA Section Commander? We know that as an IMA all these roles can be confusing. The IMA Strategic Review just published its short "Air Force Reserve Leadership for Individual Reservists" fact sheet. Check it out HERE as a downloadable PDF on their webpage.
TWO MEMOS ON THE HQ RIO WEBSITE TO ASSIST IRS WITH ACCESS TO NEARBY MILITARY TREATMENT FACILITIES
Some IRs experience issues when attempting to make appointments or be seen at an MTF other than the base they’re assigned. There are two memos found HERE, one from the HQ RIO commander, and one from the Defense Health Agency, that are for you to use and share with these MTFs to assist you with your readiness needs.
TWO REMOTE UTAS FOR IMAS COMING UP
A National Capital Region Air Force Reserve Training Assembly will be held April 22nd and 23rd, 2024, at the Pentagon Library and Conference Center in Arlington, VA. Also, the Air Combat Command ACC Reserve Training Assembly will be held at Langley AFB, VA, May 30-31.
