RIO Buzz Vol. 54
Time moves very quickly! This is my last Buzz as the HQ RIO Commander, and soon another commander will take the IR reins. More to come in a future message, but for now, the Buzz:
MANDATORY: IF YOU HAVEN’T YET, ACKNOWLEDGE THE NEW TASKORD
When Lt Gen Healy became the CAFR a year ago, he published a TASKORD all reservists had to acknowledge clearly defining every Reservist’s responsibility in making the AFR ready now. He has an updated TASKORD and is directing all Reservists to acknowledge this important document. If you haven’t yet done so, go to this PAGE of the HQ RIO website to read the TASKORD and fill out the questionnaire to document your acknowledgement. This must be accomplished by 11 Sept 23.
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ANNUAL TOUR COMING UP BETWEEN NOW AND 30 SEPT
As the FY winds down, funding becomes an issue. Because of this, it’s incredibly important that those with currently approved Annual Tour orders for the current FY do not modify those orders for anything that would incur an additional cost (extra days, more expensive location, etc.), since these modifications won’t be approved. Additionally, DO NOT request a cancellation of your AT orders without contacting your detachment first. If your orders are canceled, that funding may not be available when trying to create new orders. As such, the management of cancellations needs to be carefully handled so HQ RIO can keep those funds available.
OPTIONS FOR MEMBERS WHOSE CURRENT FY ANNUAL TOURS REQUESTS WERE NOT APPROVED
As you know, all Annual Tour requests need to be submitted NLT 31 May to ensure they are funded. Unfortunately, there are some of you who will not be able to perform your AT because the request was put in after the suspense. If this applies to you, know that you can request that your Detachment Commander waive your AT for this FY. Keep in mind that you’ll still need to get your 50 points for a good R/R year (that can’t be waived.) You can also perform your AT with zero travel reimbursement and for points only (no pay). Contact your detachment if you have questions.
FLU SHOT SEASON IS QUICKLY APPROACHING
A reminder the annual flu vaccination will be approaching us very quickly. Please start making preparations to set up time to get your flu vaccination when it becomes available at your Local MTF, doctors office, and/or local pharmacy. Please ensure that if you get your vaccination off base that it includes the date it was given, lot number, whom it was given by. If you receive your vaccination off base you can submit this to your MTF as the most direct option for getting it updated. If you’re not able to get it updated by MTF or run into problems, please submit your flu vaccination Information to us at RIO/IRM via myFSS using by logging in to myFSS, searching “IMA Management,” and choosing RIO medical from the list of options.
It has truly been my honor to serve you as HQ RIO Commander. I wish you all the best going forward.
v/r,
Col Edward “Chad” Segura
