The RIO Buzz                                                                                             Vol 65

ANOTHER reminder that orders for annual tour for this FY MUST be requested in myFSS no later than 31 May.  If you haven’t lined up when you’re doing your AT, please make those arrangements soon!  Now, the Buzz:

FLU VACCINE – JUST OVER TWO WEEKS UNTIL MEMBERS ARE SENT TO THE IRR FOR NON-COMPLIANCE

As you all know, the annual flu shots are a MANDATORY part of military service. We still have a significant number of IRs that are showing “red” for the vaccine. RIO will be reaching out to those still showing overdue to ensure compliance. If you are looking for a RAR or have medical waiver, ensure you provide documentation verifying this. You can check your own vaccine status by checking your myIMR.  Submit your flu documentation at myFSS “Labs and Immunizations” category. If you are in seeking a RAR, have your AC MTF place you on a “temporary exemption” in ASIMS.

If you are having issues with your myFSS ticket please reach out to HQ RIO Medical at michael.miller.329@us.af.mil.

The CDC anticipates that Flu Vaccines will run out around 15 March. MEMBERS THAT DO NOT HAVE THEIR FLU VACCINE, OR AN EXCUSAL/WAIVER, WILL BE NON-VOLUNTARILY SENT TO THE IRR ON 15 MARCH.

myFSS ORDERS REQUEST “UNHANDLED FAULT” SHOULD BE FIXED

For the last few months members have been experiencing an “unhandled fault” when attempting to request orders in myFSS.  From what we are told, this has been fixed.  You may still experience it with other types of submissions, though.  In any case, the workaround is to upload a document when prompted, even if you don’t need to.  Any PDF or JPG will do.

CHANGES TO POV TRAVEL FOR DISTANCES UNDER 400 MILES

An OMB memo was recently issued that prioritizes sustainable transportation by encouraging use of electric vehicles, rail, and public transit during official travel.  These changes expound on current policy that agencies should continue to select modes of transportation that are advantageous to the Government.  The change with the greatest impact to the JTR is that a POV will no longer be automatically considered advantageous if the trip is 400 miles or less one way and that all commercial travel options must be considered before a POV is authorized.  It is not 250 miles.  Note, the AO may still authorize a POV as being advantageous but only after considering all available commercial options, costs, and the mission.  Therefore, a constructed travel worksheet will be necessary for POV travel to and from your duty location if it is 250 miles or more.
