The RIO Buzz                                                                                 Vol 78

This RIO Buzz has been streamlined for you! I have two important announcements: update on DTS and AFRC Communication Playbook. Thanks for staying engaged.  Read on for exciting updates.
Now, the Buzz…

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

DTS will be offline on 5 Sep 24. If you anticipate traveling between 5-8 Sep 24, submit your authorization now to ensure your Approving Official approves it in DTS before 4 Sep 24. All authorizations for travel between 5-8 Sep 24 must be signed, reviewed, and approved prior to the downtime. This is to ensure CTO has enough time to book and ticket all reservations on your travel order.

AFRC Communication Playbook. This playbook includes Air Force Reserve talking points, guidance, and resources for you to use as you navigate the complexities of today’s communication environment. You’ll find topics like Great Power Competition, Election and Political Activity, and Reserve Recruiting—all of which we encounter as we are communicating the AFR Mission Playbook HERE.

EXCITING UPDATES:

New DTS videos: We’ve created three new videos to assist you in navigating DTS. These videos will guide you through the process of creating authorizations, submitting vouchers, and avoiding common mistakes. We recommend bookmarking these videos, as they’ll be a valuable resource for those who only use DTS a couple of times a year.

Common Return Reasons (authorizations & vouchers)

The above videos provide training on authorizations and vouchers for performing AT in conjunction with IDT, IDT outside normal commute, and common reasons for authorization and voucher returns.

With an increased seasonal voucher volume, you can expect payment processing times of up to 30 business days, depending on the completeness and accuracy of the voucher submission to the RIO Travel Reimbursement Office.

Updated IR Guide: The IR Guide remains a great all-encompassing tool for you as you navigate your IR career. That said, we’ve completely refreshed this document, making it an even more comprehensive tool for managing all aspects of your responsibilities as an IR member. From requesting formal schools to understanding your active-duty supervisor’s role in the admin process, the IR Guide serves as a reliable ‘how-to’ manual for achieving success as an IR.

NOTE: Rather than downloading and saving this guide, we always recommend saving a shortcut directly to the guide to ensure it is the most current version every time you access it.

Stay tuned for more videos and updates on any AFRC process that may impact you.
