With these catastrophic events, it’s a good time to remind each of you to update your information in the Air Force Personnel Accountability and Assessment System (AFPAAS). This will ensure you receive notifications in the event of a hurricane, tornado, or any other widespread catastrophic event. To update your information, please click on this link HERE.
Remember, updating AFPAAS with current contact information is YOUR responsibility.
In addition to AFPAAS, please update your contact information in myFSS, AROWS-R, myVector and vMPF.
We’ve also included updates on FY25 IDT Travel Reimbursement and the FY25 Bonus Incentive Guide in this Buzz.
Here are some important items to review in this edition of the RIO Buzz:
· FY25 IDT Travel Reimbursement Guide. This guide provides information on IDT Travel Reimbursement eligibility.
· FY25 Bonus Incentive Guide. This guide outlines the bonus incentive program for FY25, including eligibility criteria.
· Line of Duty Determination Process. This process outlines the steps to be followed when determining if an injury or illness is in the line of duty.
· DD214 Eligibility. This guide provides information on when you’re eligible to receive a DD214.
· AFPAAS responsibility. It is your responsibility to ensure that your contact information is up to date in the Air Force Personnel Accountability and Assessment System (AFPAAS) for notifications in the event of a widespread catastrophic event.

FY25 AFR announcement releases
AFR released its FY25 IDT Travel Reimbursement Guide. You can find the updated FY25 guide as well as information on IDT Travel Pay and Lodging HERE.

Administrative Items
Guidance on Reporting Medical Conditions for Line of Duty (LOD) Determinations. Reserve service members who get sick or injured while in a military status, should request a Line of Duty (LOD) determination. Report your illness or injury to your active-duty commander and RegAF MTF within 3 days and specify if you were in status at the time of the injury or illness. If your condition was caused or made worse by your military service, you may be eligible for healthcare or other benefits. Follow this link HERE to obtain LOD documents via the RIO Medical homepage.
DD214 Eligibility Reminder: To be eligible for a DD 214, you meet the following criteria:
· Completed orders of 90 consecutive days or more of active-duty service; OR
· Served voluntarily in support of a Contingency Operation, such as Inherent Resolve or Enduring Freedom, etc., for 30 consecutive days or more; OR
· Placed on Medcon/Med Hold orders for one or more consecutive days; OR
· Involuntarily mobilized under Title 10, USC Section 688, 12301(a), 12302, 12304, 12305, 12406 or 331-335.
To receive a retirement-specific DD 214, you must be on active-duty orders for 90+ days (30+ days for a named contingency) up until your effective date of separation or retirement. If you meet the above criteria, click HERE for more information.
Emergency Preparedness and the importance of the Air Force Personnel Accountability and Assessment System (AFPAAS). AFPAAS standardizes a method for the Air Force to account, assess, manage, and monitor the recovery process for Airmen and their families affected and/or scattered by a wide-spread catastrophic event. Your first responsibility is to ensure your contact information, to include cell phone number, is correct in AFPAAS, With the correct contact information, AFPAAS will send you notifications for accountability actions and if needed, you can complete a needs assessment. RIO Announcements
On behalf of the IMA Strategic Review Team: The IMA Strategic Review Team’s IMA ADCON effort is in its next phase and looking for new organizations (any echelon, any career field) and Senior IMAs to join! IMA ADCON refers to the shared ADCON of IMAs and the effort to codify the role of the Senior IMA to facilitate ADCON on behalf of RegAF, RIO and to the benefit of assigned IMAs. It is not a requirement to make any changes, but identifies opportunities, resources and advocacy within the organization. We define Senior IMA as IMA to Wing Commander (or equivalent), or the senior IMA in above-wing organization, headquarters, MAJCOM, Joint directorate. Senior IMAs, Reserve Advisors, and Career Field Managers interested in more information or in becoming a prototype organization should contact Col Samantha Dawson at samantha.dawson@us.af.mil with “IMA ADCON” as the subject line.
Freedom Award nominations due. The 2025 Secretary of Defense Freedom Award nomination season kicked off on 1 Oct 2024, giving Reservists the chance to nominate their incredible employers for national recognition. Nominations can be made by service members or their family members who work for the organization being nominated. Employers of all sizes and industries, from health and transportation to entertainment and banking, can be nominated. The Freedom Award is the top honor given by the Department of Defense to employers who support National Guard and Reserve members. So, if you have a supportive employer, be sure to nominate them at www.FreedomAward.mil by 31 Dec 2024.
IR Advisory Council is looking for new members! Join the IR Advisory Council for a two-year term and make a difference in our community. Collaborate with HQ RIO leadership to identify and address IR issues and develop solutions to enhance the IR portfolio. Meet virtually four times a year, with no travel required. Submit your application by 25 Oct 2024. Include a personal letter, career data brief, and resume/bio. Use the letter template found HERE. Open to all AFSCs and ranks.
