The DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty provides Air Reserve Component (ARC) members with an accurate and complete summation of a period of qualifying active military service. This form also provides civil and government agencies with information needed to administer the federal and state laws and/or benefits that apply to members who separate from the military.
- Completed orders of 90 consecutive days or more of active duty service
- Served voluntarily in support of a Contingency Operation such as Inherent Resolve or Enduring Freedom, etc. for 30 consecutive days or more
- Placed on MEDCON/Med Hold orders for one or more consecutive days
- Involuntarily mobilized under Title 10, USC Section 688, 12301(a), 12302, 12304, 12305, 12406 or 331-335

Effective 18 February 2025, ARPC has released the new DD Form 214-1,
Certificate of Uniformed Service, Reserve Component Addendum for Air Reserve Component members. This form, alongside the DD Form 214, is designed to comply with the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act and will provide a clear, concise summary of each period of active service and Reserve Component service. This comprehensive record will make it easier for members to access the benefits and entitlements they deserve at separation or retirement, as outlined in Department of Defense Instruction 1336.01,
Certificate of Uniformed Service (DD Form 215/215 Series), para 3.2 (b) (1) (2).
The following personnel will be issued a DD Form 214-1:
- Members who are separated or released from a Reserve Component
- Reserve Component members transferred to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) or the Inactive National Guard
- Reserve Component members transferred to the Standby Reserve or Retired Reserve
- Recalled retirees reverting to retired status
A DD214-1 is
not required to be issued for:
- National Guard members who transfer states
- Personnel whose Reserve Component service is terminated by death
- Every issuance of a DD Form 214
- Already retired or separated members
